The Teaching and Learning Team works with the school community to cater for the diverse learning needs of all students, to maximise educational outcomes. We monitor each student's progress and provide additional learning support if this is required.
Our school uses learning programs and specialised staff where needed and we work in partnership with parents and carers to assist students who have additional learning needs.
Our school is committed to working with Aboriginal parents and community members in developing personalised plans for our Aboriginal students.
Languages
The Languages offered at Nepean are Italian and French.
At present, student are learning Italian in Year 8. Students wishing to continue studying Italian can choose languages as an elective in Years 9 and 10.
In addition, we offer both the Continuers and Beginners language course in Years 11 and 12. The Continuers course is a continuation of the language studied in Years 9 and 10. The Beginners course is offered to students with no prior knowledge of the language they want to learn.
All students studying a language will experience a communicative approach to learning that integrates the language mode of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Many students develop excellent communication skills and find that learning a new language also helps them with their studies in English.
